Unfortunately, Serpent Saints ends on a bit of a downer with atmospheric outro “Love Song For Lucifer” but ultimately, Serpent Saints is hands down the best album since Clandestine or Wolverine Blues depending on how you rate the later, either way, the band is partially back in my graces, but still will never be looked at with reverence as they once were.

Thy Kingdom Coma - Entombed - Serpent Saints / The Ten Amendments (CD, View credits, reviews, tracks and shop for the Vinyl release of I Remember That is still the case here on “Serpent Saints.” “Masters Of Death” is the most old school Entombed sounding song on this album. The song has a superb old school thrash death vibe and Petrov’s vocals are in top form. In fact L.G. Petrov’s vocals are terrific on this album. Hype has a tendency of running out of control and shooting expectations skywards, only to leave a plethora of disappointed fans in its wake, yet without a certain degree of hype people would treat Serpent Saints as they have the last five albums – good, but nothing incredible.

After the soggy and forgettable "Inferno" four long years ago, just the fact that ENTOMBED sounds like they wanted to be in the studio for this one is a cause for celebration. The low bass kicked in, bouncing off my head like a concrete police baton and then the guitars – those damn guitars – started to shred my eardrums like a hungry carnivore tearing into a hot meal. In a nutshell, if Entombed had released Serpent Saints, their ninth studio album, as the album in between Clandestine and Wolverine Blues, where it stylistically fits in, I would have been far more forgiving of Wolverine Blues’ shift.
